Confined Spaces Awareness 

Developed in conjunction with Compliance Standards Group, Health & Safety professionals, this course will give you an overview of working in confined spaces, including why confined spaces are so dangerous, as well as the hazards associated with them. 

Who should take the course? 

Anyone who is required to do activities within a confined space, for example: 

• Storage tanks 

• Silos 

• Reaction vessels 

• Enclosed drains 

• Sewers 

• Open-topped chambers 

• Vats 

• Combustion chambers in furnaces 

• Ductwork 

• Unventilated or poorly ventilated rooms 

• The course covers the following topics: 

• Confined Spaces Introduction 

• Confined Spaces – Definitions 

• Confined Spaces – Dangers 

• What The Law Says 

• Confined Spaces – Alternative Arrangements 

• Safe Systems of Work 

• Emergency Procedures 

• Capabilities of Rescuers 

• The Law 

As well as the legislation on confined spaces, including: 

• The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 

• The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 

• The Confined Spaces Regulation 1997 

Completion of this course should take approximately 2 hours, which does not need to be completed in one go. You can learn at your own pace, pausing and returning at times to suit you, with 24hr access. 

Upon successfully passing the online training course multiple choice assessment, you will be able to download your Certificate of Completion.
